Roughrider Golf Course is a Military, 9 hole golf course located in Minot, North Dakota. The course is located adjacent to Minot AFB and can be entered directly from US Highway 83. You don’t have to go through the base gate, and the course is open to the public.
Roughrider Golf Course first opened for play in 1976.
This 9 hole military course will provide enough challenges for even the most experienced golfer. There are plenty of sand bunkers on the course, and a water hazard comes into play on hole #5, a 171-yard, par 3. The terrain is predominantly flat, but there are some changes in elevation that will cause uneven lies. The large, fast greens are loaded with subtle breaks. Golfers who like to walk will really enjoy playing this course. There is an additional set of men's tees that can be used when playing a double loop eighteen hole round.
From the back tees, the course plays over 3,155 yards with a slope of 111 and rating of 69.5.

Because of recent flooding in Minot, the other area courses have sustained significant damage and offer only restricted play. Roughrider GC is only a 9 hole course, but has different tee's/yardages to provide a different look for a second nine. Due to some water conservation issues in the area, the course, especially the greens, are not maintained as well as they normally would be, but they are still decent. This is a course I don't play that often when the other courses are open, but it is always a well maintained, course I enjoy playing when I do get there.
